I found a typewriter and red beans!

This morning my roommate and I got up early and walked around the neighborhood near school. It's nice to get a chance to walk down the streets I see everyday in passing but don't have time to venture down. We came across an open air fresh fruit/vegetable market and a little park. It's funny how we walk right by things without realizing that just on the other side of that building there is a market!

This is Piazza Santa Maria, which I walk by everyday to class. This morning I decided to take a picture because the sky was such an erie color. There weren't a lot of people there today since it was drizzling, but this piazza is actually fairly popular nightspot for people to gather. I was there last Friday night and the piazza was filled with people. I can see why it's popular spot since there are a lot of pubs and restaurants around the piazza and the surrounding streets.

This was my favorite table this week at the Sunday market. My roommates bought plates as gifts to bring back home but I'm too afraid that they would break! I did buy a beautiful picture frame for my photography project. It's light wood, painted white, and really detailed. I'll post a picture of it soon probably of it "in action" for my photography project.

This weekend my roommates and I decided to take a walk to Piazza di Spagna/Spanish Steps which is another famous place that people just gather in. Some fun facts that I learned today from my Italian homework: the church behind the steps is the church of Trinità dei Monti and the "Scalianta" is the longest and widest staircase in Europe.

This is mostly a picture for my mother... I almost bought these beans because they remind me of hers. They wouldn't be the same though, so I didn't.

This is for Vincent who asked me if I had seen the "Typewriter" yet. I honestly had no idea what the "Typerwriter" was... I actually pass by it about 10 times a week (or more) and just didn't know the name of it. Well this is the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (National Momunment of Victor Emmanuel II) in Piazza Venezia and Capitoline Hill. Its nickname is the the "Typewriter" or "Wedding Cake". I never actually looked at the building long enough of at the right angle to get that impression. Now that I know its nickname the columns stick out in my mind and I do see a typewriter shape! That just goes to show that there are so many details to be noticed about things that you might see everyday!
